I began with the RLAC in December 2007.  I have 20+ years of experience and education in business management and marketing.  After moving to Lake Mills in 1995, I "retired" from my work-for-pay positions and focused on raising our 4 children.  While busy with my children, I also had the opportunity to be involved in our schools and church.  I worked on the charter education process for the LMASD.  I taught Sunday School, was on the middle school PTO board, I worked with high school volunteers, and coached the high school dance team.

With my youngest a senior in high school, I now have time to work at something else.  As an employer, The Rock Lake Activity Center offered everything I love to do and certainly challenges me!  It is a gift to our community and one I hope to continue to enhance and see grow.

For fun, I am learning to horse-back-ride, I love to downhill ski, and play with my granddaughter Baiya.

I began at the RLAC when we opened in January of 2007.  I graduated from UW Oshkosh with an Exercise Science degree in 2004.  After college I started taking on clients as a Personal Trainer, which I did until the activity center opened.

I love what the activity center stands for and am proud to work in a place that promotes healthy living and aging.  The activity center has grown so much already in the short time that we've been open.  I'm excited about what the future holds as the center continues to tap into all its potential.

When I'm not working at the activity center I'm usually at home working even harder to keep up with my three boys - Beau (age 3), Sean (age 2), and Max (age 1).

Hannah Stuve

Hi! I'm Hannah, and I've been working at the RLAC since March of 2009. I love the friendly environment here!
I graduated from LMHS in 2007, decided to take two years off to work and to find my true interests in life. This fall I will be attending the same college my grandpa and parents went to-with my younger sister. Can you say family oriented? :-)
I enjoy reading people's favorite quotes, so I think I'll share one of my favorites with you:
"Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass... it’s about learning how to dance in the rain." -unknown
Jenna Heilman
Front Desk Staff

Hi! My name is Jenna. I am going to be a junior at Lake Mills High School. I am on the varsity tennis and dance teams.  My plan after high school is to go to UW Whitewater to be a kindergarden teacher. Most of my family went to Whitewater to be teachers as well. I guess you could say I'm following in their footsteps!
Carmen Brander
Front Desk Staff

Hello! I'm Carmen Brander and I am a senior at Lake Mills High School. I really have no idea what I would like to do after high school; I change my mind almost eveyday. But I am excited about graduating. Horseback riding is a passion of mine. I also enjoy soccer, snowboarding, hanging with friends and believe it or not crocheting! I'm a new employee to the Activity Center and look forward to meeting you!

I'm in two school sports and those are football and track. Outside of school I ski, BMX mountain bike race, and play tennis and hockey. I get involved with a lot of sports. I'm also very musical. I play the piano, drums, and harmonica. I even teach drum lessons here at the activity center.

Liz Vadeboncouer
Body Sculpting and Cycling Instructor

Hi, my name is Liz Vadeboncoeur and I’m a fitness junkie.  I love to work out with others in a fun setting.  I’ll do whatever I can to keep fitness opportunities here in Lake Mills for everyone in our community to benefit from. My hobbies include cycling (both road and mountain), skiing (both downhill and cross country), swimming, and running.  My goal is to remain as fit as possible so that I can enjoy all these sports with my 2 active teenage daughters and my husband Joe.  They are always challenging me!  With all our hobbies, finding time to workout with weights can be a challenge.  Teaching body sculpting is a great way to get together with fun people and do something great for our bodies.  Hope to see you in class sometime.
Kim Price
Yoga and Cycling Instructor

I have been an avid cyclist since the early 90's when I rode for the UC Berkeley collegiate cycling team.  Our team went to collegiate nationals every year that I rode, and I was a top 10 finisher in the women's road race.  Because of school and family commitments, my so-called racing career was limited to those few years in graduate school, although I have continued to ride ever since.  Fortunately, I am married to an ex-bike racer (and Trek employee), so bikes are the topic of at least one conversation every day. After the birth of my third child, I took up marathon running and have completed 3 marathons in two years.  I am currently training to run the Boston marathon this spring.  I decided to become a group cycling instructor because Kathy Mock asked me to...and yes, if she jumped off a cliff, I would also jump.  She's that cool. Although I like the idea of working with my peers to help them improve their fitness, health, and performance, my real joy comes in encouraging young people, particularly girls, to develop healthy lifestyle habits and self-esteem through physical activity.  The only advice or tip that I can offer to others:  find something you enjoy enough to do at least 30 minutes a day.  If that gets boring, find something else--just keep moving and have fun.
Jo Christianson
A Step Up Instructor

I am currently a Special Education Teacher in Jefferson for pre-schoolers with special education needs.  I recently achieved my greatest success when I passed my National Board Certification in Teaching.

I have worked out on a regular basis my entire life being highly committed to maintaining a healthy life style.  I am a retired runner. I had run for 18 years competing in local runs ranging from 5Ks to Syttende Mai which is 20 miles long. I have placed 3rd in my age group at the Badger State games and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in many local runs.  I have been an aerobic instructor since 1990, teaching in the surrounding area at local health clubs and am certified with NETA.
Kathy Mock
Cycling and Functional Fitness Instructor

I graduated from UW LaCrosse with a Physical Education/Community Health degree.  I am certified through ACE as a Personal Trainer and also hold a Cyclopse Power Cycling Certification. I'm old enough to have been part of the 1980's aerobics boom.  I even worked at an aerobic studio in Minneapolis for about 5 years where all we taught was aerobic classes: 50 instructors/12 classes per day.  I moved on to Harbor Athletic Club where I ran the aerobics program and consulted for Sun Prairie Athletic Club. I've competed in Marathons, triathlons and all sorts of cycling events and love to inspire people to figure out what it takes for them to be active and healthy. My tip for you: TRY SOMETHING NEW WHENEVER YOU GET A CHANCE!!!!
Jenny Hendricks
Boot Camp and Body Sculpting Instructor

I have always loved health and fitness.  In high school I participated in cross-country and track and earned a spot in the state meet junior year as an individual runner for Lake Mills.  Running is my favorite activity as well as walking with my golden retriever.  I am a triplet sister.  Recently I graduated from MATC with a degree in Recreation Management/Activity Fitness Leader.  I enjoy sunshine and warm weather.  Arizona is my favorite place to visit.  My goal is to help others achieve lifelong fitness and happiness and to make exercise fun, innovative, and interesting.
Wendy Schreiner
Zumba and Pilates Instructor

Hello my name is Wendy Schreiner. I have been a resident of Lake Mills for 13 years and live here with my husband and two children. I am currently employed at Vision Fitness and my face might look familiar as I was employed with Fort Health Care here in Lake Mills for 8 years. I enjoy any and all aspects of physical activity and well-being. I became a certified group fitness instructor 8 years ago with interest in helping people feel better and wanted to help encourage them to enjoy and have fun exercising as much as I do. Along the way I have attended many different continuing education classes to learn new effective and safe fitness techniques to keep my students challenged and motivated. Some other interests I enjoy doing are sewing, knitting, painting, and cake decorating and riding on our Harley.

Some tips and suggestions I would like my class participates to go home with are: listen to your body while exercising, moderation in all aspects is a good thing and my motto is to have fun and laughing while working out burns more calories (yes, it’s true I did read that somewhere). But most of all keep your mind open to the body and spirit connection that motivates you to be active and to feel and be healthy.
Aaron Mock
Cycling Instructor

I have been a Bike Mechanic since age 14.  Along with fixing bikes and cycling I played soccer, hockey, and was cross-country skier through high school and college.  I went to St. Olaf College in Northfield MN where I received a BA in Creative Writing and Political Science.   I was an Assistant Coach for St. Olaf Cross-Country Ski Team and a member of the St. Olaf Cycling Team.  Formerly competing as a Duathlete and Road Racer.

Currently I Mountain Bike and Cyclocross race.  For the past 12 years I have worked with Trek bicycles (the last 9 as Product Manager for Gary Fisher and Greg LeMond Bicycles).  I am a graduate of the Michael Sylvester "Bicycle Fitting Services" Seminar for professional bicycle fitting.  When I’m not working on bikes I enjoy spending time with my wife Kathy and 6-year-old son Daxton (who one day will kill all of us on a bike)...
Jackie Beaversdorf
Youth Yoga Instructor

I am a certified Yoga Instructor with experience teaching Youth Yoga and Youth Pilates.  I have competed in the Milwaukee Marathon Finisher and the Rookie Triathlete.  I enjoy reading, sewing, and outdoor activity with my family.  I became an instructor because someone asked me.  When opportunity knocks at your door you take it.

My health tip for you is: don’t be afraid to surprise yourself – try new activities.  You may find a hidden talent you didn’t once think possible.  Food for though: A library can get you through times with no money better than money can get you through times with no library.
Scott Daubert
Cycling Instructor

I have a BA in English from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and I'm a Colorado native.  I’ve worked for Trek since 1992, I was hired as a team mechanic then managed one of their race teams for several years. I spent five years as the technical liaison between Trek and the USPS and Discovery teams working closely with Lance.

I've attended 60+ International World Cup races, worked at the Olympics twice, seen the World Championships for mountain bikes 10 times; visited 41 US states and 30 countries (all because my mom said follow your passion for bikes and see where it leads you).

I met my New Zealand-born wife, Mary, in Sweden at a mountain bike race.  We have a 1.5-year-old son named Conor and we are expecting again in May 08.
